Rooted in a timeless welcome
It began, as the best things do, without intention. In the autumn of 2019, three friends — a furniture designer, a curator, and a writer — took a short lease on an apartment in the Marais, an old place with creaking floors, tall windows, and the particular silence of rooms that have held many conversations.
They hosted a dinner. Then another. Then, by the fourth month, a quiet ritual had formed on the last Thursday of every month: ten or twelve people around a wooden table, a single long conversation that often did not end before two in the morning. Artists brought poets. Architects brought composers. Nothing was scheduled, nothing was announced.
By the second winter, the apartment could no longer hold the room. What had been an accident became, almost reluctantly, a club — not because anyone wished to formalise it, but because the conversation needed somewhere to continue. The weikher in is the room that grew around that table.
